Ethics and Boundaries

A professional course that informs health care providers about their scope of practice boundaries, state board rules, updated state and federal HIPAA laws.  At the conclusion of the program, the registrant will understand their scope of practice boundaries, state board rules as well as understanding their respective state and federal HIPAA laws. Ethical issues involving chiropractors and their practice.

Michelle Champion is lawyer residing in Sarasota, Florida, where she represents a wide variety of corporate entities, professionals and other individuals in business transactions, negotiations, business litigation and administrative law proceedings. Michelle has extensive experience in business litigation, complex commercial litigation, contractual and real property disputes, as well as business representation and commercial transactional law, including acquisitions, entity formation, negotiating and preparing commercial contracts, and regulatory and compliance counseling.

Prior to starting her own practice, Michelle served as the Chief Legal Officer for an international corporation specializing in international and U.S.-based commodities and sustainable resources.  In this capacity, Michelle oversaw all legal operations for the company and its subsidiaries worldwide, including negotiations, consultation and consummation of contracts with entities in the U.S. and abroad. Michelle also headed the litigation department of a prominent Sarasota law firm for seven years, handling a wide variety of corporate and real estate matters, including the successful litigation of claims against banks, businesses, as well as professionals in negligence claims.  Her representation also led included contract negotiations, drafting and representation in many various business and real estate transactions.  After graduating law school, Michelle practiced with a top national law firm where she represented national, regional and local clients, including Fortune 50 and Fortune 500 companies, banks and financial institutions in complex commercial litigation in numerous state and federal courts.    

Michelle graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law, magna cum laude, where she was a recipient of the Judge Joseph N. Hunter Memorial Scholarship, and worked in the oldest legal clinic in the United States, representing under-privileged juveniles and families in real estate and criminal matters.  Michelle received highest honors in several classes while in law school. 

Prior to attending law school, Michelle was an orchestral flutist for many years, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music Performance, cum laude, in 2002.  During her musical career, Michelle performed in over 14 countries with several orchestras, including solo performances at the Kremlin, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Dublin; Stephansdom, Vienna and Hallgrimskirkja, Reykjavik.
